The teeth whitening industry is a huge one, made possible by the huge number of people who dream of having whiter teeth without having to visit a dentist. There aren’t many people who wouldn’t like whiter teeth if they were offered them, and with increasingly effective methods now becoming available this is becoming more realistic. Methods include trays for whitening and peroxide teeth whitening

Home methods can definitely be aviable alternative to dentist treatment in some cases, but if you have the money the dentist option is probably the most likely to give you the results you want.

Teeth Whitening Toothpaste – These work by using a bleaching agent which makes your teeth whiter. There are many of these types of toothpaste available now, although their effectiveness is still in question. The main reason you might not get the results you want with these kind of toothpastes is that when you’re brushing your teeth the bleaching agent is only in contact with your teeth for a short amount of time each day.

Whitening Trays – The bleaching agent in this case is contained within a tray that is held agains the teeth to whiten them. This means the bleaching chemical is in contact with your teeth for longer and is hence more effective.

It’s vital to read about the method before using it to make sure your teeth wont be damaged in any way. Don’t ever do something that may endanger the long term health of your teeth as you may pay for it in the long run, even if in the short term your teeth are whiter. A dentist will always be able to provide the most effective teeth whitening method (although that may change in the future), but the cost of this may mean it is better for you to go the home route.

If you are in doubt as to the safety of a particular method you should always contact your dentist first to check that it is safe. Always ensure that you have thoroughly researched a potential method to make sure it is safe to use before trying it.
